TATTERSALLS FEBRUARY CATALOGUE OUT NOW


The catalogue for the 2010 Tattersalls February Sale, which takes place on Thursday, 4th February, is now available and can also be viewed online at www.tattersalls.com.
The sale, which produced the dams of the 2009 Group 1 winners TOTAL GALLERY, LORD SHANAKILL and DIM SUM for an average of 14,333 guineas features 289 lots including breeding stock, horses in training, two-year-olds and weanlings.

Headlining the catalogue is Cheveley Park Stud's Group 1 placed and Group 2 winner PIPEDREAMER. The son of SELKIRK out of the GONE WEST mare FOLLOW A DREAM has earned more than £450,000 including Group 2 wins in the York Stakes and Prix Dollar. The six-year-old also recorded Group 1 placing's in the Eclipse Stakes and Prince of Wales's Stakes and finished his 17 start career with a 2 length fourth behind TWICE OVER in last year's Champion Stakes at Newmarket.

The catalogue includes consignments from some of the world's leading owner/breeders including Darley, Juddmonte Farms, Rabbah and Shadwell Stud as well as top trainers from Britain and Ireland including Roger Charlton, Luca Cumani, John Gosden, Richard Hannon, Barry Hills, Michael Bell, Mark Johnston, Michael Jarvis, Brian Meehan, Richard Fahey, Jeremy Noseda and Peter Chapple-Hyam.

Highlights amongst the fillies and mares on offer include DAPPLE DAWN, the half-sister to the Hong Kong Derby winner COLLECTION, covered by ROCK OF GIBRALTAR, and CHRISALICE, the half-sister to last season's Group 1 Prix de l'Abbaye winner TOTAL GALLERY and Group 1 Fillies' Mile runner up LADY DARSHAAN. Castlefield Stud consigns four lots to the sale including BALTIC RHAPSODY, a half-sister to the Group 1 winner JOVIAL, in foal to ORATORIO, FAIRY FESTIVAL, the half-sister to the Prix de l'Abbaye winner BENBAUN, in foal to KHELEYF, and PINKABOUT, the half-sister to the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner CARRY ON KATIE, in foal to HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR.

The catalogue also includes mares in foal to exciting young sires DUBAWI, FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND,MOTIVATOR and PASTORAL PURSUITS, proven Group 1 sires including BAHAMIAN BOUNTY, BEAT HOLLOW, CELTIC SWING, DR FONG, ORATORIO, ROCK OF GIBRALTAR and ZAMINDAR and Classic/Group 1 winners DUTCH ART, DYLAN THOMAS, HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR, MILK IT MICK, MOUNT NELSON, NOTNOWCATO and SAKHEE'S SECRET.

Pinhookers are also well catered for with weanlings by such consistent Group 1 producers as CLODOVIL, COMPTON PLACE, ELUSIVE CITY, MIZZEN MAST, ROYAL APPLAUSE, SAKHEE and TIGER HILL, in addition to exciting young sires including AMADEUS WOLF, ARAAFA, BYRON, COCKNEY REBEL, DARK ANGEL, DYLAN THOMAS, FIREBREAK, HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR, ICEMAN, IFFRAAJ, LIBRETTIST, MOTIVATOR, NOTNOWCATO, PASTORAL PURSUITS, SIR PERCY and THREE VALLEYS.

The three 2009 Group 1 winners out of mares bought at the Tattersalls February Sale averaged 14,000 guineas and the 289 strong catalogue provides plenty of choice for buyers in all categories. Buyers will also have the opportunity to view 13 high class stallions at the TBA Stallion Parade which precedes the start of the sale.”
